Through the years, we’ve seen some handy AutoHotKey (AHK) scripts come and go that help players be more productive in online poker. Usually, these scripts are shortcuts or on-screen indicators that do some of the work for us so that we can play more efficiently.
A new script was recently released called PS MoneyToBB that works on PokerStars exclusively. It’s a homemade AHK script, meaning its creator does not have dreams of selling it for a fee. The downloadable zip file is just 30 KB in size, so no matter what your connection speed is, the file will download in a matter of seconds.
The file you will run for this script is MoneyTobb.ahk and once you execute it, you will be able to attach a special HUD on every table. The program will look at every player’s stack at a table and then display the number of big blinds they have in relation to their chip stack. For example, if you are at a $0.25-$0.50 table and you see a player with a $44 stack, you’ll see “88.0” below his name, indicating that this player has 88 big blinds in his stack.
Other features include the ability to hit the F1 key and have the script attach a bb-HUD on every active table. You can also hit CTRL+Esc to kill it. At the time of writing, the program only works with six-handed cash games with specific table themes and sizes. The first theme supported is HyperSimple, only to be used in the default table size or the minimum table size. The script also supports the Classic theme at the default or minimum table sizes. Finally, the script supports the Black theme at the minimal table size.
The script creator stated that you can get PS MoneyToBB to work with any table theme or size you want, but it just takes some effort creating the coordinates. The program works via OCR using the “Gdip_LockBits()” command code to scan the area because it’s much faster as compared to “getPixel.”
As posted on October 6th, “Weegs,” who created the script, stated that he has a version that works pretty well with every table size and would release it once he has fixed some bugs.
Players like to know what stack sizes are in terms of blinds because it helps them understand what certain bets mean and how much they commit a player. For tournament players, this becomes especially critical because the blinds are always going up and knowing your effective stack size compared to them is a core skill.
For cash game players, when you move up a level and play at stakes you are unaccustomed to, you might misinterpret certain bet sizes. However, if you simply look at stacks and bets in terms of the number of big blinds, it will always look the same no matter what stakes you end up playing.
AHK scripts are typically free, as is the case with this one, and to run them you must install the AHK Runtime for Windows. AHK scripts usually consume minimal system resources and if you have more questions, please visit the Software Discussion forum.
